It’s easy!

We are located in beautiful Lake Cowichan, British Columbia, Canada, on Vancouver Island.  A 60-80 minute drive from either the capital city of Victoria to the south, or the city of Nanaimo to the north, will have you here, enjoying nature at its best.

Our location allows for the feeling of “getting away from it all” while having total access to the big cities by way of majorhighways and road routes.

Ferry Routes

Travelling to Vancouver Island from any of the Vancouver ports via BC Ferries, takes 1 1/2, to 2 hours depending on which port you depart from. You will then be docking in either Victoria or Nanaimo and driving to our location in Lake Cowichan.
There are also numerous ferry services from the USA to Vancouver Island

The Coho Ferry  has a passenger and vehicle service from Port Angeles, WA to Victoria’s Inner Harbour.

The Washington State Ferry    is a passenger and vehicle service from Anacortes in Seattle, WA to just outside Victoria in Sidney, BC.

The Clipper Ferry has a passenger only ferry between Seattle, WA and Victoria’s Inner Harbour.

 

By Air

Air service includes scheduled flights by most major airlines to the Victoria International Airport  YYJ  and Nanaimo Airport  YCD.  Car rentals are available at the airport or we can book a shuttle service to get you to our lodge from the Nanaimo Airport only.

Check out Kenmore Air for service from Seattle to Victoria’s Inner Harbour, and Nanaimo, or charter a flight right to the lake in Cowichan Lake and we can pick you up.

Harbour Air Seaplanes  has service from Vancouver, BC  to Victoria’s Inner Harbour, Maple Bay (in Duncan) and Nanaimo Harbour.

Once you are on Vancouver Island, driving to our lodge is very straight forward. Below are driving directions.

 

 FROM NORTH (NANAIMO AIRPORT OR FERRY TERMINALS)
  • Head south on Hwy. #1.    Drive for approx. 30 minutes or until Highway 18  turn off  just north of Duncan . This will be at a set of traffic lights.
  • Turn right off Hwy #1 onto Hwy #18 heading west to Lake Cowichan.
  • Travel on this highway approx. 15-20 min. until you come to the Lake Cowichan “Welcome” sign with two bears on top of it.
  • Follow directions #1 through #6 below.
 

 

DIRECTIONS FROM SOUTH (VICTORIA AIRPORT OR FERRY TERMINAL)
  • Head south on Highway #17 from the Airport and follow signs to NANAIMO heading north via Highway #1
  • You will be actually coming to Duncan but the signage will direct you to the bigger city of Nanaimo which is beyond Duncan. It will take you approx. 1 hour to reach Duncan.
  • Drive through the city of Duncan still on Highway #1, and watch for the left turn off  at a set of lights to get onto the Highway #18 heading west to Lake Cowichan.  This will be about 3 minutes north of Duncan.
  • Travel on Highway #18 approx. 20 min. until you come to the Lake Cowichan “Welcome” sign with two bears on top of it.
  •  Follow directions #1 through #6 below
 

 

DIRECTIONS FROM SOUTH (VICTORIA INNER HARBOUR)
  • Get onto Douglas Street and head north out of the city.  This street turns into Hwy #1.  Follow signs to NANAIMO heading north via Highway #1
  • You will be actually coming to Duncan but the signage will direct you to the bigger city of Nanaimo which is beyond Duncan. It will take you approx. 1 hour to reach Duncan.
  • Drive through the city of Duncan still on Highway #1, and watch for the left turn off  at a set of lights to get onto the Highway #18 heading west to Lake Cowichan.  This will be about 3 minutes north of Duncan.
  • Travel on Highway #18 approx. 20 min. until you come to the Lake Cowichan “Welcome” sign with two bears on top of it.
  •  Follow directions #1 through #6 below.

 

  1. Stay left of the “Welcome” sign with two bears while driving into Lake Cowichan on the main road. Drive through the traffic circle and cross the bridge in front of the Riverside Inn hotel.
  2. Immediately after crossing this bridge, take the first left onto King George Rd.
  3. Follow King George Rd straight up onto another traffic circle.
  4. Enter the traffic circle and take your 3rd exit onto Sahtlam Ave. E.
  5. Travel along this road as it changes names along the way to Grant’s Lake Rd., keep going until you come to Hudgrove Rd.  You will see our sign on a big tree.
  6. Follow Hudgrove Rd 3.5 km to the very end. We are #7461 Hudgrove Rd.
